Baker Hughes has announced a new Power Frame Agreement with Venture Global and GE Vernova to support the development of behind-the-meter power generation capacity in the United States.
The agreement establishes a framework for supplying gas turbines, steam turbines and associated equipment and services for up to 16 new power island units. The equipment will support Venture Global’s LNG production and liquefaction operations, as well as potential future data center projects developed adjacent to LNG facilities.
Under the agreement, Baker Hughes will also provide the controls and electrical integration technology required for each power island, including electrical houses (E-houses) and electrical control systems.
The framework builds on the LNG power island architecture previously deployed by Baker Hughes at Venture Global facilities. The companies intend to use the existing design as a repeatable model for developing behind-the-meter power generation capacity to support LNG production and related industrial operations.
“With our partners at Venture Global, Baker Hughes is helping to bridge the gap between energy capabilities and industrial aspirations,” said Lorenzo Simonelli, chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes. “Behind-the-meter power generation has emerged as a critical component to LNG operations as well as advancing the AI economy, and this framework will replicate what we have already built with Venture Global to develop more power – quickly, safely and at scale.”
Venture Global expects to place its first power island purchase order under the framework by the end of 2026, with additional orders anticipated beginning in 2027.
Equipment deliveries contemplated under the agreement are scheduled from 2028 through 2034.
The agreement reflects the growing role of dedicated power generation infrastructure in energy-intensive industrial operations. Behind-the-meter generation allows LNG facilities and other large power consumers to develop on-site electricity supplies rather than relying exclusively on utility grids.
The framework also provides a potential platform for supporting data centers located near LNG infrastructure, although the companies did not identify specific data center projects or disclose the agreement’s financial value.
The announcement did not specify the generating capacity of the individual power islands or provide a breakdown of the gas and steam turbine equipment contemplated under the agreement.
