Will retain Virginia facility

TMEIC Corporation Americas, a subsidiary of Japan’s TMEIC Corporation, officially inaugurated its new North American headquarters in Houston’s Energy Corridor, underscoring a significant step in its Americas expansion strategy.
President & CEO Manmeet S. Bhatia addressed industry stakeholders, government officials, and business partners, noting: “We are thrilled to be part of the vibrant Greater Houston community and look forward to expanding our business in North America’s energy hub”.
TMEIC provides advanced medium-voltage motors, drives, and control systems used extensively in natural gas infrastructure—from upstream and midstream to downstream operations. The company’s goal is to enable efficient, reliable operation of gas compressors, pumps, and fans, playing key roles in both natural gas transmission and processing applications.
Notable projects include supplying a 20,450 hp induction motor paired with a 23 MVA TMdrive‑XL75 variable frequency drive for a natural gas liquids plant compressor unit in Delhi, Louisiana. That system operates at 6,000 volts and delivers precision speed control to support high-pressure CO₂ recycle and separation processes, the company said.
Additionally, TMEIC equipped a gas processing plant in New Mexico with multiple medium-voltage variable frequency drives ranging from 300 to 7000 hp to power compressors.
By enabling variable-speed control, TMEIC said its technology reduces reliance on throttling valves and gas turbines, delivering significant energy savings, lower operational costs, reduced maintenance, and virtually no emissions or noise compared to conventional solutions.
The company said the Houston headquarters is part of a broader strategy to expand renewable energy technology, domestic manufacturing, and sustainability goals. The site will support innovation and service delivery in key energy infrastructure sectors, and is expected to host a growing workforce—currently about 500 locally, rising from its global total of 900 employees.
TMEIC said its Roanoke, Virginia, location remains central to global operations, focusing on advanced automation engineering, large AC motors, and variable frequency drive systems.
Bhatia added, “With the global momentum toward decarbonization, electrification, and domestic manufacturing resurgence, we are well-positioned for continued growth… we will uphold our legacy as a global leader in energy and industrial solutions.”
