Burckhardt Compression has completed delivery of a turnkey compression solution for a leading manufacturer of engineered cryogenic gas processing equipment and small-scale LNG and industrial gas plants. The project, executed at LNG terminals in Nicaragua and the Bahamas, involved designing and delivering compressor systems that met stringent performance, space, and schedule requirements.

The customer required a system that could be rapidly deployed, fit within constrained terminal layouts, and maintain reliable performance under cryogenic conditions. Burckhardt Compression provided compact, skid-mounted compressor packages designed for fast delivery and installation, supported by extensive testing to validate operational integrity.

Technology evaluation and selection

Burckhardt Compression reviewed multiple compressor technologies, including its own Laby units, before determining that a third-party Other Brand Compressor (OBC) package would best meet the project’s technical and commercial requirements. The decision was based on an assessment of performance, budget, delivery timeline, installation complexity, and long-term service considerations.

According to the company, the selection reflected its commitment to providing the most appropriate solution for each customer application.

Teams from Sales, Contracting, and Project Management worked closely with the customer to coordinate technical specifications, documentation, and logistics. The compact, single-skid compressor packages were delivered and installed on schedule, with full support throughout the process. A successful witness test confirmed the systems’ performance and compliance with project specifications.

A customer project engineer said, “We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Burckhardt Compression team for the excellent execution of the project. We experienced uninterrupted support from sales, project management, and upper management. As a confirmation of this appreciation, we have placed another order with Burckhardt Compression. We are looking forward to further cooperation with Burckhardt Compression in the U.S. and the global team.”

Application in LNG terminals

LNG import and export terminals require equipment that is reliable, modular, and compliant with international safety and environmental standards. Burckhardt Compression reported that the supplied system met these operational needs, supporting the customer’s objectives for reliability, maintainability, and performance in demanding service conditions.

The company stated that the project demonstrated its capability to manage technical and logistical challenges for small-scale LNG infrastructure and to provide equipment integration and service support tailored to project-specific requirements.
