Global Compression Services names two Permian Basin managers

Melanie Gee Mathews and Pete Ramirez join the company in sales and service leadership roles as GCS looks to expand its regional operations

Global Compression Services (GCS) has appointed Melanie Gee Mathews as Permian regional sales manager and Pete Ramirez as Permian service center manager as part of its efforts to expand its presence in the Permian Basin.

Melanie Gee Mathews

The Midland, Texas-based company provides aftermarket parts, maintenance, repairs and field services for natural gas compressors, gas engines and ignition systems.

Mathews brings more than 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including natural gas compression, business development and strategic account management. A fourth-generation Texas energy professional, she has worked with customers across the upstream and midstream sectors.

In her new position, Mathews will oversee regional sales activities, develop customer relationships and support the company’s expansion throughout the Permian Basin. Her responsibilities include connecting customers with GCS’s compression equipment, replacement parts, field services, maintenance and repair capabilities, and control technologies.

Mathews is a three-time recipient of the Oil and Gas Service Awards for Excellence and has been recognized as an Influential Woman of the Year in Energy.

Pete Ramirez

Ramirez has more than 20 years of experience in the natural gas compression industry. He began his career on the shop floor, gaining experience in machining, manufacturing and compressor component repair before moving into management and branch leadership positions.

As Permian service center manager, Ramirez will oversee service center operations, with an emphasis on operational performance, workforce development and customer service. His responsibilities will include developing employees’ technical skills and preparing personnel for leadership roles.

“Melanie and Pete bring exceptional experience and leadership to Global Compression Services, and we’re excited to have them on our team,” said Mike Brooks, CEO of GCS. “Their combined expertise will help us strengthen customer relationships, expand our reach and deliver greater value to customers throughout the Permian Basin.”

GCS operates 10 service centers across major North American oil and gas producing basins. The company provides aftermarket support for major compressor and engine platforms, serving natural gas producers and operators through parts supply, component repairs and field services.
