Ebara Elliott Energy (EEE) has completed a large-scale electrical infrastructure upgrade at its Jeannette, Pa., manufacturing facility, boosting its testing capacity to 100 MW—equivalent to roughly 134,000 horsepower. The investment positions the company among a small number of global manufacturers capable of full-speed, full-load testing of compressors and electrical equipment at that scale.
The project, launched in late 2022, was developed in collaboration with utility provider First Energy. It included installation of a new power line, a main 138-kilovolt breaker, a 100-megavolt-amp (MVA) power transformer, and capacitor banks to ensure stable and reliable power delivery to the test facility.
“With the push to reduce emissions and shorten overall project cycle times, we identified the trend toward high power electrification many years ago,” said Ron Josefczyk, vice president of global manufacturing. “Our expanded capabilities prove our commitment to be a top provider to energy customers—the future of testing starts here.”
EEE said the upgrade comes in response to growing energy demand, particularly from the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector, where customers increasingly require testing of large, electrically driven turbomachinery. The enhanced capabilities will allow EEE to support broader industry efforts to decarbonize compression and power systems.
“Now we have one of the largest testing capabilities in the world,” said Mark Babyak, vice president of new apparatus sales. “We’ve got a world-class operation for our world-class customers. This upgrade allows us to help customers transition to greener solutions, and it solidifies our role in supporting a sustainable future for the energy industry.”
EEE said the Jeannette expansion reinforces its strategy of offering end-to-end turbomachinery support—from design and manufacturing to testing and service—within a single facility. The company manufactures and services centrifugal and axial compressors, steam turbines, power recovery expanders, pumps, and cryogenic equipment for the oil and gas, refining, petrochemical, and power generation markets.
Headquartered in Jeannette, Ebara Elliott Energy employs about 3,600 people across 29 global service and sales centers.
