olong Electric America has introduced a new line of high power, low voltage motors designed for horizontal pumping applications in oil and gas production and natural gas compression. The new motors, part of the company’s Quantum line, deliver up to 1,500 HP at 460 volts, offering a low voltage alternative to traditional medium voltage systems.
Targeting upstream and midstream operators, the 2-pole, 3-phase motors are built for demanding service in compression stations and pipeline facilities. Housed in the WPII 580 frame, the motors maintain the same physical footprint as medium voltage models, enabling high output without major infrastructure changes.
The new motors are built with inverter-grade insulation and a form coil epoxy vacuum pressure impregnated insulation system. They feature insulated flange-mounted sleeve bearings and are designed for use with variable frequency drives. Certifications include API 541 and 547, CSA, and suitability for use in Class I, Division 2 hazardous environments.
Wolong said the motors reduce the need for multiple machines or medium voltage conversions, offering operators a lower capital cost option for high horsepower applications. Standard features include bearing and winding temperature detectors, space heaters, and multiple access boxes to simplify installation and operation. Maintenance-free bearing options are also available.
Rated for operation from minus 40 to 50 degrees Celsius, the motors are engineered for a 20-year service life in harsh environments common to oilfield and industrial facilities. Available in voltage ratings up to 575 and 600 volts, they are suitable for compressors, blowers, fans, chillers, and municipal power generation.
Wolong Electric America is headquartered in Houston and manufactures motors in Monterrey, Mexico. The company provides low to high voltage motors, drives, controls, and related equipment for industrial applications.
