Burckhardt Compression received an order for a diaphragm compressor unit for a new green hydrogen production plant in Switzerland. The new compressor will be manufactured at Burckhardt Compression facility in Shenyang, China and shipped as a container-installed compression unit to Switzerland.

The compressor system is designed to move hydrogen at  high pressure and high purity. Its ultimate application is suitable for fuel cells in heavy transportation industry. H2 Energy is building the new 2 MW green hydrogen production plant as a step towards the development of green hydrogen infrastructure in Switzerlaland.

Burckhardt will manufacture the new diaphragm compressor, which will be used to fill swap trailers that contain vessels with hydrogen at 450 bar. The hydrogen will be distributed to fueling stations across Switzerland.

The primary end-users of the hydrogen will be heavy duty vehicles, including the first 46 Hyundai trucks already operating in Switzerland. H2 Energy is a Swiss company working to reduce CO2 emissions by using hydrogen as an alternative fuel. The company is pursuing projects to develop the production and distribution of green hydrogen in Switzerland and across Europe.
