BKV Corp. and Comstock Resources have signed a non-binding agreement to jointly develop carbon capture, utilization and sequestration projects at two of Comstock’s natural gas processing facilities in Texas.

The prospective projects would target Comstock’s Bethel and Marquez facilities in the Western Haynesville region and could include the development of CCUS injection wells to permanently sequester carbon dioxide produced during operations. Final terms remain subject to further negotiation and definitive agreements.

The partnership brings together BKV’s carbon management capabilities with Comstock’s operational footprint in the Haynesville shale, a key natural gas production area with access to Gulf Coast LNG markets.

“Collaborating with a premier partner like Comstock is a compelling opportunity to showcase how our CCUS portfolio can enable other natural gas producers to operate more sustainably,” said BKV CEO Chris Kalnin.

Comstock CEO M. Jay Allison said the company sees carbon capture as an extension of its strategy to provide scalable, low-carbon energy. “Enhancing Comstock’s infrastructure with innovative CCUS partnerships will deliver exactly that,” he said.

BKV, based in Denver, is among the top 20 gas-weighted producers in the U.S. and operates across natural gas production, processing, power generation and carbon capture. Comstock, headquartered in Frisco, Texas, is a leading producer in the Haynesville shale
