Höegh Evi has entered into an agreement with Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) to jointly develop the proposed Kuching LNG Terminal in Sarawak, Malaysia.
The project is planned as part of the Kuching Low-Carbon development and is intended to support power generation in Kuching while providing additional energy infrastructure for future industrial growth.
Under the agreement, PETROS and Höegh Evi will jointly develop, own and operate the terminal. The project is expected to include a floating storage and regasification unit, mooring infrastructure, subsea and onshore pipelines and onshore receiving facilities.
The partners are targeting first gas by the end of 2029 and are evaluating opportunities to accelerate the schedule as demand grows.
In addition to regasification, the terminal is expected to support small-scale LNG distribution, truck loading, bunkering, storage and reloading activities.
“Höegh Evi is proud to work with PETROS as development partner in the Kuching LNG Terminal,” said Erik Nyheim, CEO of Höegh Evi. “We are committed to supporting Sarawak’s evolving infrastructure needs and enabling long-term growth in the region.”
PETROS is serving as master developer of the broader Kuching Low-Carbon development.
