Faster turnaround, lower costs aim to reduce turbomachinery downtime

Regal Rexnord Corp. has expanded its high-performance coupling recertification service to support maintenance and operations teams in the oil and gas industry and other sectors that rely on turbomachinery.
The enhanced program offers a cost-effective alternative to new coupling replacements, providing customers with faster turnaround times and localized service from facilities in six countries. Company officials say the service is designed to minimize downtime and help customers better manage maintenance schedules in mission-critical environments.
“In the oil and gas sector, where unplanned downtime can be extremely costly, equipment reliability is everything,” said Greg Mackie, global product manager at Regal Rexnord. “Our expanded coupling recertification service underscores our commitment to helping customers extend the life of valuable assets while improving efficiency and reducing total costs.”
Couplings are essential for transmitting torque between rotating equipment and require precise maintenance. The recertification program includes a full disassembly and inspection, mechanical and metallurgical evaluation, replacement of all hardware, rust removal via glass bead blasting, and dynamic rebalancing. The process can also incorporate design modifications or updates based on the latest engineering standards.
Recertified couplings are restored to like-new performance standards at a cost that can be up to 50% less than purchasing a new component, the company said.
Regal Rexnord operates recertification and repair centers in Florence, Kentucky; Nove Mesto, Slovakia; Hyderabad, India; São Paulo, Brazil; Zhangzhou, China; and Sydney, Australia. The global footprint enables faster service turnaround and reduced shipping times compared with new part lead times, which can exceed 16 weeks.
The service supports couplings from Regal Rexnord’s own brands, including Kop-Flex, Ameridrives, Bibby Turboflex, Rexnord and Euroflex, and is part of the company’s broader Industrial Powertrain Solutions segment.
