Organizers say move reflects the growing convergence of technologies used across the energy sector

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) and the Unconventional Resources Technology Conference (URTeC) will be co-located May 3-5, 2027, at Reliant Park in Houston, creating a larger forum for companies developing technologies that span offshore and unconventional oil and gas operations, the organizations said.

While the conferences will retain their separate technical programs and identities, the organizations said attendees will have expanded access to both events through bundled registration options and a shared exhibition, providing exhibitors with exposure to a broader audience of operators, engineers and technology providers.

The move reflects the growing convergence of technologies used across the energy sector. Advances in artificial intelligence, automation, digital operations, emissions management, subsurface analytics and remote monitoring are increasingly being deployed in both offshore developments and unconventional resource plays.

For suppliers serving the natural gas compression and midstream markets, the overlap is becoming more pronounced as digital asset management, condition monitoring, methane emissions reduction and carbon management technologies find applications across gathering systems, processing plants, LNG facilities and offshore production assets, organizers said.

Organizers said the co-location is intended to accelerate the exchange of technologies and best practices between the two sectors while maintaining each conference’s technical focus. The combined event is also expected to provide greater opportunities for companies to showcase solutions that address operational efficiency, reliability and sustainability across multiple energy markets.
