MCO-I names new CEO

Toyota brings nearly three decades of experience with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Compressor International (MCO-I), a key player in the global turbomachinery sector, has appointed Shohei Toyota as its new president and CEO. The company said the move reflects MCO-I’s strategic focus on strengthening its North American operations and enhancing its after-sales support capabilities.

Toyota brings nearly three decades of experience with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), including more than 15 years in the compressor business. MCO said his is appointment underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation and customer-centric service in the high-performance rotating equipment industry.

“I am honored to lead MCO-I and continue its legacy of delivering state-of-the-art turbomachinery,” Toyota said. “Together, we will focus on providing valuable, customer-centric solutions. We will continue to innovate technologically, supporting our partners and new business growth as the industry evolves.”

Toyota’s background includes extensive experience in export and commercial sales while based in Tokyo, where he cultivated key client relationships across Asia and managed product lines ranging from power systems and chemical plants to compressors. He also held dual roles with both MHI and MCO-I for three years, contributing to cross-unit business development and strategic growth.

MCO-I, headquartered in Pearland, Texas, is the U.S. arm of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ compressor business. Established in 2010 and operational since 2015, MCO-I provides a full range of services for centrifugal and reciprocating compressors and steam turbines—including manufacturing, packaging, testing, and after-sales support. Its 180,000-square-foot facility near Houston serves the oil & gas, petrochemical, and power generation industries across North and South America.

Under Toyota’s leadership, MCO-I aims to expand its footprint in North America through enhanced service offerings, local manufacturing expertise, and cutting-edge technology development. The company continues to serve as a critical hub for MHI’s global strategy in energy and heavy industry.
