Kobelco Compressors America (KCA) has expanded its Houston Service Shop in La Porte, Texas, increasing its capacity for compressor overhauls and aftermarket services.

The company marked the completion of the expansion with a grand reopening Aug. 5, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the service facility, which opened in August 2016. The shop supports customers in the petrochemical, refining, energy, offshore and process gas industries across the Americas and internationally.

The Houston facility provides overhaul and service for screw, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, along with KCA’s broader aftermarket sales, service and engineering activities.

The expansion provides additional capacity for compressor and extruder overhaul work and adds dedicated areas for hydro blasting, non-destructive testing, painting, climate-controlled storage and parts inventory. KCA also added customer work areas, conference and training space and expanded material-handling capabilities.

“The expansion represents much more than additional square footage,” said Peter Venizelos, head of Aftermarket Sales, Service & Engineering at KCA. “Our goal is to be a long-term service partner by providing greater equipment reliability and lifecycle value, faster turnaround times, and access to Kobelco’s global technical expertise.”

KCA said the additional capacity is intended to allow the facility to handle a greater volume and wider range of service work while improving workflow and turnaround times. The Houston shop serves as an aftermarket service hub connecting customers in the Americas with Kobelco’s OEM engineering and technical resources.
