INNIO Group and Austrian container systems specialist Gföllner have launched a new joint venture—IGPS (INNIO Gföllner Power Systems)—to manufacture standardized gas engine packaging in the United States. The new company, headquartered in Fort Pierce, Florida, will support INNIO’s Jenbacher gas engine product line and address growing demand for localized power generation solutions.
IGPS will produce pre-configured containerized systems for INNIO’s Jenbacher engines, initially focusing on the U.S. and Canada. These power modules will include U.S.-built enclosures for engines ranging from 250 Kw to 1.5 MW. According to the companies, the venture will enable faster delivery of engine systems while streamlining logistics and compliance with regional standards.
“With IGPS, we are expanding our global packaging footprint into the United States to ensure customers in the region have faster access to INNIO’s advanced Jenbacher energy solutions,” said Olaf Berlien, president and CEO of INNIO Group.
IGPS leverages Gföllner’s decades of experience in customized container systems and INNIO’s power generation technology. By localizing the production of packaging systems, the partners aim to reduce lead times, improve after-sales service, and support growth in distributed energy markets.
The venture comes as demand rises for flexible, efficient gas engine systems to support renewable integration, backup power, and combined heat and power (CHP) applications. Containerized units, which are modular and transportable, are a common solution in decentralized energy projects across North America.
The IGPS plant in Fort Pierce is expected to begin operations in 2025. The company said it plans to create skilled manufacturing jobs and expand its footprint as demand grows.
