New CEO for carbon capture management firm

Harper takes over from founder of CapturePoint

CapturePoint and CapturePoint Solutions, together one of North America’s leading private carbon management companies, announced the appointment of Greg Harper as chief executive officer and member of the Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Harper, a veteran of the U.S. energy sector with more than 35 years of leadership experience, steps into the role as the company accelerates its growth in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Sequestration (CCUS). He succeeds Tracy Evans, CapturePoint’s founder and former CEO, who recently retired.

Prior to joining CapturePoint, Harper co-founded and led Evergreen Midstream, an energy asset acquisition and development firm. His industry background includes executive roles at Blue Mountain Midstream, Enbridge, Southwest Energy, CenterPoint Energy, Spectra Energy Partners and Duke Energy.

“Greg is a dynamic, purposeful leader who has driven commercial, operational, and developmental success across every aspect of America’s natural gas and energy transportation sectors,” said Brian Falik, Global chief investment officer of Mercuria Energy, one of CapturePoint’s largest shareholders. “His proven leadership is perfectly aligned with the ambitious plans CapturePoint’s shareholders have for the fast-growing CCUS market.”

CapturePoint operates over 1 million tons of CO2 injection annually through Enhanced Oil Recovery (CO2-EOR) projects and manages more than 230 miles of dedicated CO2 pipelines across Oklahoma and Texas. The company is actively developing several large-scale carbon storage hubs, including the CENLA Hub in Louisiana, poised to become one of the largest onshore carbon storage projects in the U.S. with storage commitments already exceeding 4 million tons of CO2 annually.

Another major initiative, the Colorado CO2 Storage Hub, will build upon existing infrastructure and expand regional capacity for both deep underground and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR)-based carbon storage. Its first phase includes extending the current pipeline by 100 miles, adding capacity for an additional 1.25 million tons of CO2 annually.

“I am honored to lead the talented team at CapturePoint,” Harper said. “Domestic carbon management solutions are critical to securing our nation’s energy resilience and reinforcing U.S. leadership in manufacturing and industrial exports while adapting to the changing needs of the climate.”
