Waukesha Gas Engines, Nidec colloborate on electric motor technology

Nidec’s electric motor technology will be integrated with Waukesha engine solutions

INNIO’s Waukesha Gas Engines and Nidec Conversion announced a technology collaboration that integrates Nidec’s high-efficiency electric motor technology with Waukesha’s engine solutions.

The companies said the agreement combines over 100 years of INNIO Group’s Waukesha expertise in the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors with Nidec’s century-long experience in electric motor technology. With this collaboration, INNIO Group’s Waukesha brand underlines its commitment to helping its customers build a powerful future through innovative technology that meets today’s energy demands with low-emission products.

INNIO Group’s Waukesha team has extensive experience in engineering, designing, and producing reliable energy solutions for upstream, midstream, and downstream production applications.

Nidec’s technology includes specific electric motor offerings, variable frequency drives, and related components for gas compression applications as follows:

“We are excited to combine INNIO Group’s highly reliable Waukesha engine performance with Nidec’s proven track record of expertise in manufacturing electric motors. With this collaboration, we are enabling our customers to use electricity to lower emissions and reduce costs by switching to natural gas during peak electricity rates or favorable economic conditions,” said Jason Padilla, vice president, product management & marketing for INNIO’s Waukesha brand.

“Nidec brings more than a century of technology innovation to today’s changing energy landscape,” said Dominique Llonch, president of Nidec Conversion, a business segment of the Nidec Motion & Energy Platform. “Working alongside INNIO Group’s Waukesha teams, we bring deep gas compression industry expertise. Together, we can deliver added flexibility for customers, paving a cost-effective path towards energy efficiency and creating a win-win for everyone.”
