Zahroof Valves Nets U.S. Patent For Reed Valve Module

Zahroof Valves has received a U.S. patent for its reed valve module and valve assembly. It is the 43rd patent for the company, which specializes in valves and valve technology for reciprocating gas compressors. It other patents include those for its poppet valves for a valve assembly and system; a caged poppet valve; poppet valve assemblies; and valves coupled to electric devices.

Zahroof Valves’ StraightFlo valve has been the catalyst for the company’s slew of patents. Since the StraightFlo valve’s release, 32 patents have followed around the world in countries such as Great Britain, China, Mexico, Turkey, Russia, New Zealand and Australia. Additional patents on nine different technologies are pending in 31 countries, including Canada, South America and Southeast Asia, the company said.

The StraightFlo valve is a reed check valve with an assembly comprised of replaceable reed valve modules that allow gas to flow straight through a valve with minor deviation, the company said. All wear components are in the module, which allows operators to replace a bad valve module with a new one. Special tools are not required to make the switch, which also eliminates the need to machine parts during service. The modules are also interchangeable.

The reed valve module design also makes it more tolerant to liquids and solid particles in the gas stream. Because of this, the module has a lifespan five to 10 times than of a conventional valve in a gas production application, the company said. The design also results in much lower noise and vibration levels.

“What started out as a simple idea of how to improve on valve design that really hadn’t changed in over a hundred years has now led to patented products and an intellectual property portfolio of technology being implemented in installations across the globe,” said Zahroof Mohamed, the company’s founder and president.
