Voith’s Houston Service Facility Opens For Business

17 May 2019

Voith’s new Houston, Texas, workshop is now operational and accepting orders, said Shawn Calhoun, the company’s senior vice president and CMO Americas. Those orders include overhauls and repair jobs for torque converters, S-couplings and gearboxes.

The workshop serves as a service facility for Voith, who announced its plans to open a Houston location in October 2018. The 32,000 sq.ft. (2973 m2) facility provides repairs, overhauls and retrofit services for all gearbox brands, including Voith’s Vorecon variable speed planetary gearbox, as well as torque converters and S-couplings. It also offers a gearbox test stand, as well as services for non-Voith products.

Located on West Sam Houston Parkway North, the workshop hosts the Houston-based Voith team, including sales, project management, application engineering, design engineering, customer service and its field service team. The opening also creates several new positions at Voith working out of Houston. It is the company’s second workshop, the first located in York, Pennsylvania.

The company said the new location provides several industry benefits, such as the ability for local customers to visit the workshop to review work being done for them. Other benefits include the opportunity for quicker project turnarounds, reduced transport needs and better customer communication, the company said.
