Sensor company expands operations

SignalFire plans to more than double its production capacity

SignalFire Wireless Telemetry is expanding its manufacturing operations in Marlborough, Massachusetts, to meet rising demand for its industrial wireless monitoring solutions—including those used extensively in the natural gas sector. The 25% increase in operational space will more than double the company’s production capacity by July 1, 2025, supporting continued growth across both domestic and international markets.

Founded in 2008 to serve the oil and gas industry, SignalFire said it has built a reputation for rugged, reliable telemetry systems designed for harsh field environments. Its 2020 launch of the RANGER wireless monitoring system marked a turning point, enabling the company to expand into broader energy and industrial applications.

SignalFire’s technology is now widely used in natural gas operations for wireless monitoring of pumps, compressors, tank levels, gas distribution pressures, and methane emissions. The company said its systems are engineered to operate for years in remote and hazardous environments, transmitting data via LTE-M and NB-IoT cellular networks.

“SignalFire’s platform is engineered to provide reliable sensor-to-cloud connectivity in the most demanding applications,” the company said in a statement. “We’re investing in infrastructure and people to keep pace with growing customer needs while continuing to deliver industry-leading support.”

SignalFire also highlighted growing interest in its emissions monitoring capabilities, particularly methane sensing for environmental compliance. These tools are increasingly valuable in oil and gas fields facing heightened regulatory and ESG scrutiny.

With more than 250 million hours of field operation logged, SignalFire said it remains focused on helping customers digitally transform their operations by enabling wireless integration of both existing and new sensors—streamlining data collection and improving efficiency.
