Retrofit exhaust aftertreatment systems from Eminox

New EMx S5 range of solutions prolong the life of existing machinery, company says

Emissions control company Eminox has announced the availability of its complete range of retrofit exhaust aftertreatment systems (EATS) for power generators and non-road mobile machinery (NRMM), enabling them to meet Stage 5 emissions standards.

The UK company said this enables operators to comply cost-effectively with regulations such as the London NRMM Low Emission Zone, which came into force on 1 March 2021, other planned Clean Air Zones (CAZ), and the forthcoming Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD). It also enables generators to achieve on-site emissions standards for the HS2 rail link construction project.

Eminox, based in Gainsborough, England, said it is the first company to receive approval from the official NRMM Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (RAS) for a solution for constant speed engines and has now launched retrofit exhaust aftertreatment systems covering 37 to 560 kW engine power output, accredited by the Energy Saving Trust. Fully integrated into generators, Eminox’s new EMx S5 range of solutions prolong the life of existing machinery, avoiding the requirement to replace them with newer models, the company said.

“As we move towards a zero emissions future, there’s an increasing focus on generators and their impact on air quality in cities across the UK,” said James Thorpe, UK Sales Manager, Eminox. “Operators need to be able to achieve compliance with emissions regulations, such as the London NRMM, and our new range of accredited retrofit solutions enables them to deliver this cost-effectively and quickly, safeguarding their investment in existing plant.”

Norfolk, England-based Falcon Tower Crane Services has worked with Eminox to retrofit its generators to address emissions compliance. It provides a range of generator services and operates a fleet of over 60 diesel generators.

“We collaborated with Eminox and they delivered a low-cost solution to support our business requirements now and in the future,” said Andy Teanby, Generator Manager, Falcon Tower Crane Services. “Our adoption of this retrofit emissions reduction technology enables us to meet Stage 5 emissions standards, which is required on HS2 project sites, and also comply with MCPD standards in London.”

Eminox has the capacity to supply emissions systems for power generation of up to 2 MW. It works with both retrofit customers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and said it was first to market with accredited emissions control solutions for on-road applications and NRMM such as piling rigs.
