Wison New Energies and Siemens Energy sign MoU on floating LNG cooperation
September 11, 2025
Agreement focuses on turbine and compressor packages to streamline offshore project development

Wison New Energies and Siemens Energy have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Gastech 2025 in Milan to advance collaboration on sustainable offshore energy projects.
The agreement calls for the two companies to jointly develop optimized configurations of Siemens Energy’s SGT-750 gas turbine and motor compressor packages for use in Wison’s floating LNG (FLNG) and floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) projects. In addition, the partners will establish a Frame Agreement toolbox intended to standardize technical and commercial processes, reducing project lead times.
“This MoU marks a significant step in our journey to deliver high-performance, low-emission energy solutions,” said Cheng Yuanyun, CEO of Wison New Energies. “Partnering with Siemens Energy allows us to combine engineering excellence with cutting-edge technology to meet the evolving needs of our clients.”
Andreas Pistauer, vice president of gas service sales at Siemens Energy, said the collaboration builds on the companies’ shared focus on efficiency and sustainability. “We are excited to deepen our collaboration with Wison New Energies. Together, we aim to accelerate the deployment of reliable and sustainable energy infrastructure worldwide,” he said.
Expanding Wison’s FLNG portfolio
Wison New Energies, headquartered in Shanghai, has emerged as one of the most active global players in the floating LNG sector. The company has been developing mid- and large-scale FLNG solutions for more than a decade, with projects targeting gas-to-power, offshore monetization, and small-scale LNG supply chains.
In recent years, Wison has delivered floating regasification units (FSRUs) and worked on FLNG designs for international clients, positioning itself as a full-cycle solutions provider covering engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and operation. By partnering with Siemens Energy on turbine and compressor integration, Wison aims to further optimize plant performance, reduce emissions, and shorten construction timelines — key differentiators in a competitive FLNG market.
The MoU reflects a broader industry push to make FLNG more cost-competitive and scalable. With global LNG demand forecast to rise steadily through 2040, floating production offers an attractive alternative to traditional onshore terminals, especially in regions with remote offshore gas reserves or constrained land availability.
For Siemens Energy, the collaboration strengthens its presence in LNG infrastructure, adding to its established portfolio of rotating equipment and compression solutions across the oil, gas, and power sectors.
