Mountain Valley Pipeline LLC (MVP), which is majority owned and operated by Equitrans Midstream Corp., filed a notice to voluntarily dismiss eminent domain proceedings against landowner holdouts in North Carolina for land needed to build an extension of MVP into the Tar Heel state, called MVP Southgate.

MVP is a 303-mile project stretching from Wetzel County, WV, to Pittsylvania County, VA. Southgate would stretch an additional 75 miles from Pittsylvania to Alamance County, NC. While MVP is 94% complete, a series of legal challenges by green groups have stalled the completion of the project. Southgate has not yet begun construction. MVP says it will concentrate its time and effort on completing MVP and then, at some future point, return to the Southgate project.
