Move strengthens Cooper’s reciprocating compression capabilities and expands support for non-OEM equipment
Cooper Machinery Services has acquired Plant Process Machine Works (PPMW), a Houston-based provider of reciprocating compressor service, repair, and engineering solutions. The acquisition enhances Cooper’s process compression capabilities and broadens its support for both original and non-OEM equipment across key industrial sectors, the company said.

PPMW, formerly a subsidiary of Rotating Machinery Services (RMS), brings a decades-long track record of excellence in reciprocating compressor technology. The company is known for its expertise in diagnostics, equipment restoration, and precision component manufacturing. In addition to Cooper OEM equipment, PPMW services compressors from manufacturers such as Dresser-Rand, Clark, Ingersoll Rand, and Worthington.
“This acquisition further expands our capabilities in the reciprocating compression space and reinforces our position as the go-to partner for process and gas compression equipment,” said Scott Buckhout, CEO of Cooper. “We welcome Richard King and the PPMW team to Cooper and are excited about the opportunities ahead.”
By integrating PPMW’s technical depth and broad service capabilities, Cooper aims to further solidify its standing as a comprehensive solutions provider in the compression market. The combined teams will continue to focus on delivering high-performance, field-proven support to customers across the energy, chemical, and industrial sectors.
