Cooper Machinery Services announced Scott Buckhout as its new president and CEO, replacing John Sargent, who has retired.

Buckhout has worked in senior leadership for more than 20 years and has a successful record of leading global industrial and energy OEMs with an aftermarket focus. Most recently, Buckhout served as CEO of CIRCOR International, which supplies mission-critical components and systems for midstream, downstream, petrochemical and aerospace end-markets.

Before his role at CIRCOR, Buckhout also led the Fire and Security division of United Technologies Corporation.

“I am very excited to join the Cooper family,” Buckhout said. “Cooper has substantial growth opportunities in the compression, process and power-generation markets. Our goal is to continue the great strides the company has made the last three years towards returning Cooper to prominence as the premier OEM and aftermarket service provider in the industry.”

Houston-based Cooper makes parts and provides after-sale services, and offers emissions-reduction technologies to its large base of engine and compressor brands.
