Clean Energy Fuels Corp. has signed an agreement with Seranco, S.A. for 16 300 hp (223 kW) CleanCNG 2.0 compressors. The compressors are for three fueling stations for the transit agency Empresa Municipal de Madrid (EMT).

Last December, Madrid joined Athens, Mexico City and Paris as the latest city with plans to ban diesel vehicles by 2025. Madrid already has plans to ban cars from 500 acres of its city center by 2020.

EMT currently operates a fleet of 2000 city buses, 500 of which are CNG-fueled with 200 more CNG buses to be added this year. The entire EMT fleet is planned to be “clean” by 2019.
