Aerzen expands turbo compressor portfolio
December 01, 2025
Acquires Germany’s GPE Turbo
Aerzen, a global manufacturer of blowers, compressors and turbo technologies, has acquired GPE Turbo in a move that significantly expands its offerings for high-pressure and large-volume process gas applications. The acquisition strengthens Aerzen’s position in the process gas market and broadens its global service and sales capabilities.
Founded in 1864, Aerzen produces conveying and compression machines used across the industrial sector and is known for its focus on energy efficiency, reliability and high-performance design. The company said the addition of GPE Turbo marks a strategic step forward in expanding its turbo compressor portfolio into higher pressure and higher volume ranges.
Leipzig-based GPE Turbo specializes in single- and multi-stage turbo solutions for the process gas industry and brings a track record of customized, application-specific equipment, including technologies designed for hydrogen and other low-carbon applications. The company operates its own R&D center and manufacturing facilities, allowing for rapid development and tailored engineering.
With the acquisition, Aerzen will expand its process gas solutions to include turbo compressors capable of pressures up to 300 bar and volume flows up to 300,000 m³/h. The deal also widens Aerzen’s single-stage turbo offerings in the low-pressure segment to 1.5 bar, complementing its existing Generation 5 and Generation 5plus series and enabling new capacity ranges up to 100,000 m³/h. The expanded lineup targets applications in oil and gas, steel production, power generation, chemical processing, wastewater treatment, mining and vapor compression.
“Aerzen and GPE Turbo—that’s a perfect fit,” said Klaus-Peter Glöckner, general manager of Aerzen. “We share the same DNA and mindset—innovative strength, quality thinking, future orientation and a strong commitment to customized solutions. Together we define new standards and shape the success of our customers.”
Ralf Stephani of GPE Turbo said integration into Aerzen’s global sales and service network will support broader deployment of GPE’s technology. “This brings together our expertise and enables us to market our customized turbo solutions worldwide,” he said.
Aerzen said customers will benefit from a more comprehensive product range, deeper engineering expertise and expanded global support as the company continues to grow its footprint in advanced process gas compression.
