After an intense evaluation process with internal and external candidates, Burckhardt Compression’s board of directors selected Fabrice Billard as the new CEO of Burckhardt Compression, succeeding Marcel Pawlicek. Fabrice Billard will start as CEO at the beginning of the next fiscal year, which is April 1, 2022.

Fabrice Billard, a 51-year-old Swiss-French-national, holds a Master’s degree in Aeronautics & Space Technologies and has led the Systems business of Burckhardt Compression since 2016, Burckhardt said.

Fabrice Billard started his career at Hay Management and Boston Consulting Group, after which he joined Sulzer in 2004. After heading the global customer services at the Pumps division, he became responsible for the Chemtech Mass Transfer Business.

In this position, he served the hydrocarbon processing industry while being located in Singapore, Asia. He joined Burckhardt Compression’s Systems Division as its president in a difficult period and turned around this activity successfully, the company said.

He is also the key driver of the Hydrogen Mobility and Energy initiative ongoing in Burckhardt Compression. The combination of his profit and loss experiences across several global businesses, his customer knowledge in the hydrocarbon processing industry, his experience in Asia and his team building skills convinced the board that Fabrice Billard was the best choice for the position of CEO, Burckhardt said.

“The board is very pleased to have found an excellent successor as the CEO for Burckhardt Compression,” said Burckhardt Chairman Ton Büchner. “Fabrice Billard’s leadership skills and his knowledge of both the project driven Systems business as well as the Services activities, in our relevant markets, will make him perfectly suitable to bring Burckhardt Compression forward into the next stage of its ongoing success.”

The Board of Directors intends to propose the inclusion of Marcel Pawlicek in the Board to the AGM 2023. Marcel will remain fully committed to Burckhardt Compression throughout the handover process.
