Reciprocating compressors topic of Sept. 18-19 event

The European Forum for Reciprocating Compressors (EFRC) organizes a training workshop Sept. 18-19. The workshop aims at bringing together engineers interested in the specific aspects of reciprocating compressors.

Expert speakers have been recruited from EFRC’s industry network (end users, compressor and component manufacturers, knowledge institutes). Each speaker presents a lecture of 45 minutes on a specific topic within his expertise. The venue is in Delft, The Netherlands. The workshop consists of two parts.

Basic training on design and operation of reciprocating compressor systems:

  • Typical applications and safety aspects of reciprocating compressor, by Guido Kluth (Shell)
  • Design and Construction of reciprocating compressor, by Andi Ziermann (Borsig ZM)
  • Thermodynamics of compression, by Mathias Kuhlow (Burckhardt)
  • Compressor valves and wearing parts, by Alessandro Baldussu (HOERBIGER)
  • Special aspects of diaphragm compressors, by Niek Albers (Howden Thomassen)
  • Condition monitoring for reciprocating compressors, by Thorsten Bickmann (Bently Nevada)
  • Operation and maintenance, by René Anke (NEAC)

On the afternoon of Sept. 19th, a special session is organized on a dedicated topic:

Special training on interactions between reciprocating compressors and equipment, in green hydrogen systems:

  • End user’s view on hydrogen compression architecture, by Guillaume Gien (Total Energies)
  • Pulsations and transients in H2 compressor systems, by Leonard van Lier (TNO)
  • Flow measurement in H2 compressor systems, by Hilko den Hollander (Krohne)
  • H2 production with electrolysers: principles and challenges, by Tim Neumann (NEA)

The training program is designed for young engineers, as well as for experienced engineers that are active in the area of hydrogen compression. The workshop will have a social and informal atmosphere. During the training, the breaks and the dinner participants can meet among each other and with the speakers.

Prices, including training material (softcopy), lunches and dinner:
