Technip Energies has received a substantial authorization to continue advancing the Commonwealth LNG project in Louisiana, marking further progress toward a final investment decision (FID).

The authorization, awarded by Commonwealth LNG—a company of Caturus—allows Technip Energies to proceed with key engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) activities under a previously signed contract. The award is classified by the company as “substantial,” representing between €500 million and €1 billion in revenue.

Located in Cameron Parish, the proposed facility is designed to produce 9.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG and will feature six identical liquefaction trains. The project will utilize Technip Energies’ SnapLNG modular solution, aimed at enabling scalable and efficient project execution.

The latest authorization builds on earlier approvals covering long-lead equipment orders and is intended to maintain project momentum ahead of FID. The full contract value is expected to be booked into Technip Energies’ backlog once a final investment decision is reached.

Arnaud Pieton, CEO of Technip Energies, said the award reflects confidence in the project’s fundamentals and execution strategy, as well as its role in supporting long-term global energy security.

The Commonwealth LNG project is one of several proposed U.S. Gulf Coast export facilities targeting growing international demand for LNG, particularly as buyers seek to diversify supply sources and enhance energy security.

Technip Energies reported €7.2 billion in revenue in 2025 and continues to position its LNG portfolio as a core component of its broader energy and decarbonization strategy.
