SKF Offering RSH Seal Option On Extended Range Of Explorer Bearings

14 March 2017

SKF is making its RSH seal design available on larger-bore Explorer deep-groove ball bearings. Previously, the RSH seal was only available on bearings with an internal bore of 25 mm or less. Now, the RSH option is available on Explorer bearings with an internal bore of up to 60 mm.

RSH seals use a dual-lip design to provide additional protection from pressure washing or wet or dusty working environments. The the secondary lip on the seal keeps contaminates out while the inner geometry is optimized for smooth operation and grease retention.

The seal is made from acrylo-nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR), which is resistant to mineral oil based lubricants, petroleum products and animal or vegetable fats. It has an operating temperature range of -40°F to 212°F (-40 to 100°C) and can even withstand temperatures as high as 248°F (120°C) for short periods.

RSH seal can be installed on one or both sides, depending on the requirements of the end application. While new bearing variants are already being introduced, the full range will be available worldwide by July 2017.

Options include numerous shield and seal configurations as well as the choice of cage materials and lubricants.
