Siemens Energy will adopt the Omterra name as it prepares to transition away from the Siemens brand six years after its spin-off from Siemens AG.

The company said the rebranding process is scheduled to begin later this year and will be implemented in stages. Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy will eventually operate under a single Omterra name and brand umbrella.

The change stems from a time-limited licensing agreement governing Siemens Energy’s use of the Siemens name following its 2020 spin-off from Siemens AG.

“Since our spin-off, it has been clear that the licensed Siemens Energy brand would be available to us for a limited period,” CEO Christian Bruch said. “Today, our company is well positioned strategically, operationally and financially.”

Bruch said the company’s improved profitability and growth plans, combined with the limited duration of the existing brand agreement, made it an appropriate time to begin the transition to an independent identity.

The rebranding will not change the company’s strategic direction, Siemens Energy said. The transition will be introduced gradually for customers, business partners and employees.

Siemens Energy is a major supplier of energy equipment and services, including industrial gas turbines, steam turbines, generators and compression technologies used in natural gas, LNG and other energy infrastructure applications.

The company said the Omterra name is intended to reflect its global operations and energy technology portfolio.

“We are proud of what our employees have built over the past few years,” Bruch said. “Our founder’s name opened doors and supported us on our path to independence. This legacy remains both an inspiration and a commitment for us as we actively help shape the energy world of tomorrow.”

The planned change will consolidate Siemens Energy and its wind business, Siemens Gamesa, under the Omterra brand while maintaining the company’s existing strategic direction.
