EFRC opens call for papers for 2027 reciprocating compressor conference

Organizers seek technical presentations from operators, manufacturers, researchers and end users

The European Forum of Reciprocating Compressors (EFRC) has issued a call for papers for its 15th EFRC Conference, scheduled to take place in 2027 in The Hague, Netherlands.

Conference organizers are inviting compressor owners, operators, manufacturers, engineering contractors and researchers to submit abstracts for non-commercial technical presentations focused on reciprocating compressor technology and applications.

The biennial event has become one of the industry’s leading forums for sharing operational experience, technological developments and solutions to challenges involving reciprocating compression systems across the oil and gas, petrochemical, industrial gas, hydrogen and energy sectors.

According to EFRC, prospective speakers are encouraged to present practical experiences, research findings and lessons learned from the design, operation, maintenance and optimization of reciprocating compressor systems. The organization is seeking contributions covering a broad range of compressor technologies, including conventional reciprocating compressors, diaphragm compressors, hydraulically driven compressors and other reciprocating-based concepts.

For the natural gas industry, the conference has traditionally served as a venue for discussions on compressor reliability, emissions reduction, condition monitoring, digitalization, maintenance strategies, valve and packing technologies, pulsation control, efficiency improvements and emerging applications such as hydrogen compression and carbon capture infrastructure.

The call for papers comes as reciprocating compressors continue to play a critical role in natural gas gathering, processing, transmission, storage and LNG operations worldwide. The technology also remains central to growing hydrogen, renewable natural gas and carbon dioxide transportation markets.

Selected presentations will provide attendees with opportunities to learn from real-world operating experience while exploring advances in compressor design, materials, controls and predictive maintenance technologies.

Authors interested in presenting must submit an abstract in English through the EFRC’s online submission system and follow the organization’s author guidelines. The deadline for abstract submissions is Oct. 31, 2026.

The conference is expected to attract a global audience of compressor users, equipment manufacturers, engineering firms, service providers and academic researchers. Previous EFRC conferences have featured technical sessions covering compressor performance, reliability improvements, machinery diagnostics, hydrogen applications, emissions mitigation and developments in reciprocating compressor components and systems.

With increasing industry focus on reliability, efficiency and decarbonization, the 2027 conference is expected to showcase technologies and operational practices that can help operators maximize compressor performance while supporting evolving energy infrastructure requirements.
