AGA Gas, a Swedish subsidiary of Linde Group, has relocated its Laby compressor and auxiliary equipment from Stenungsund, Sweden to a site 311 miles (500 km) away in Sandviken, Sweden.

The move came after a customer in Stenungsund no longer needed the 35-year-old Laby compressor. At the same time, an old air separation unit in Sandviken was refurbished, giving the equipment new life and the need for the Laby compressor.

In order to meet the customer’s needs, Burckhardt Compression conducted an engineering study to ensure compliance with the new operating conditions. With energy efficiency in mind, Burckhardt installed a new motor, which provides 30% lower volumes and reduced pressure (522 psi instead of 725 psi [36 bar instead of 50 bar]). Burckhardt also installed the latest technology to the Laby compressor.
