Woodside appoints CEO for Australia

Woodside Energy has appointed Breyden Lonnie as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Australia, formalizing a role he has held on an acting basis since December 2025.

Lonnie oversees Woodside’s portfolio of operations and projects in Western Australia and the Bass Strait, including key developments tied to the company’s LNG growth strategy. His appointment comes as Woodside advances toward a targeted first LNG cargo from the Scarborough Energy Project in the fourth quarter of 2026, prepares to assume operatorship of the Bass Strait assets and works to complete its asset swap with Chevron in the second half of the year.

Lonnie has 24 years of industry experience spanning engineering, operations, planning and management roles in Australia and internationally. He previously served as Woodside’s vice president of North West Shelf from 2022 to 2025, where he oversaw the asset’s transition to processing third-party gas.

Breyden Lonnie

Before joining Woodside Energy in 2005, Lonnie worked for Arup in engineering and project management roles across Australia, Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and commerce from the University of Western Australia.
