Siemens Partners With Total On LNG

11 June 2020

Siemens Gas and Power has partnered with Total to develop new concepts for emission-friendly liquified natural gas (LNG) production.

According to the agreement, Siemens will conduct studies to explore several liquefaction and power generation plant designs to decarbonize the production of LNG.

The studies target several key concepts for achieving green production methods. Those concepts include the use of gas turbine and electric-driven compression trains in conjunction with single-mixed refrigerant and double-mixed refrigerant technologies; selecting equipment that can minimize or eliminate process flaring; and developing techniques to improve the efficiency of onsite power generation facilities.

The studies are exploring how to use digitalization and automation platforms to optimize plant design.
