Siemens has named Hanna Hennig as its new chief information officer (CIO), a role she will occupy on Jan. 1, 2020. Hennig will be responsible for the company’s global IT organization and report to Roland Busch, Siemens’ deputy CEO.

Hennig currently serves as the CIO at Osram Licht AG in Munich, Germany. She will succeed Helmuth Ludwig, who will leave the company at the end of December. Ludwig, a 30 year Siemens veteran, will spend his time teaching at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where he has been an adjunct professor for the past six years.

As CIO for Siemens, Hennig will also provide assistance to the company’s units that are focused on Vision 2020+ strategy, which consists of making secure software platforms. She will also support Siemens’ energy business spinoff – Siemens Energy – which will become operational in September 2020.
