Collaboration targets industrial-scale deployment of green methane technology
Siemens and TURN2X have announced a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the production of renewable natural gas (RNG), a key component in the shift toward a low-carbon energy system. Under the agreement, Siemens will become a preferred technology provider and supplier for TURN2X’s green methane facilities, delivering advanced automation, digitalization, and energy management tools to help scale operations.
Germany-based TURN2X produces climate-neutral methane by synthesizing green hydrogen with carbon dioxide captured from bioethanol plants. The resulting RNG is fully compatible with existing natural gas infrastructure, including pipelines and storage, making it a promising substitute for fossil-based gas in industrial and residential applications.
“The collaboration with TURN2X is an example of how Siemens technologies can accelerate innovative solutions for clean energy,” said Axel Lorenz, CEO of Process Automation at Siemens. “We’re making an important contribution to the energy transition by helping advance promising concepts to the industrial level.”
TURN2X, which began injecting RNG into the German gas grid in 2019, recently commissioned the world’s first commercially viable RNG production plant in Spain. The company’s modular and scalable approach is designed to be finance-ready and deployable across various geographies, an advantage in a rapidly expanding market.
Technology partnership built on Siemens Xcelerator
The agreement centers around Siemens’ Xcelerator portfolio, which combines hardware, software, and digital services to streamline industrial operations. For TURN2X, Siemens will deliver solutions in three key areas: process optimization, digital twin and remote operations, and cybersecurity.
TURN2X CTO Dr. Dominik Schollenberger said Siemens’ technology will enable the company to operate its facilities remotely with high efficiency, a crucial factor in achieving profitability and scale. “This partnership gives us the technological foundation to rapidly expand our production capacity and meet the increasing market demand,” Schollenberger said.
The integrated solutions package will help TURN2X reduce costs, increase uptime, and accelerate deployment of new RNG production sites while meeting strict reliability and sustainability standards.

As governments and industries seek cost-effective, scalable, and carbon-neutral energy sources, RNG is gaining recognition as a practical solution. Unlike hydrogen, RNG can be used in existing infrastructure without retrofits, offering a near-term path to decarbonization of heating, industrial processes, and power generation.
By partnering with Siemens, TURN2X aims to scale up RNG production and contribute more significantly to Europe’s green energy mix. The collaboration also highlights Siemens’ broader push to support digital and sustainability transformations across energy-intensive industries.
The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the partnership.
