December 30, 2025
Deal revives TurboCare name and expands RMS footprint across North America and Europe
Rotating Machinery Services has acquired the steam turbine and centrifugal compressor business from EthosEnergy, adding a well-established set of technical capabilities historically associated with the TurboCare name and significantly expanding RMS’s global service platform.
The transaction brings four specialized service and manufacturing facilities into the RMS network, spanning the United States, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, and adds more than 160 experienced employees. As part of the acquisition, RMS will revive the TurboCare Steam and Compression brand, integrating its independent engineering heritage with RMS’s vertically integrated, technology-driven service model.
The acquired business strengthens RMS’s position as an independent provider of engineered solutions for critical rotating equipment, particularly in steam turbines and centrifugal compressors. Key additions include blade, seal and diaphragm manufacturing in Chicopee, Massachusetts, and steam turbine engineering operations in Sterling, Massachusetts. Together, these facilities will serve as RMS’s dedicated center for legacy GE Fitchburg steam turbine support.
With the integration of specialized engineering teams and decades of independently developed design data for this installed base, RMS said it is now among the industry’s leading independent providers of engineered solutions, spare parts and rotor repair services for GE Fitchburg and other OEM steam turbines.
“This acquisition is a major milestone for RMS,” said John Bartos, CEO of RMS. “By welcoming the TurboCare team and expanding upon our collective aftermarket support tradition, we are preserving valuable independent engineering and technical expertise while enhancing the speed and innovation our customers have come to expect.”
EthosEnergy said the transaction ensures continuity of support for customers that have relied on the TurboCare organization for multi-OEM turbomachinery services.
“This transaction reflects our commitment to ensuring customers of our steam turbine and compressor business continue to receive world-class support,” said Ana Amicarella, CEO of EthosEnergy. “RMS is the ideal partner to carry forward the TurboCare legacy, combining deep technical expertise with a customer-first approach.”
RMS will integrate the TurboCare team, technical data and intellectual property into its operations, expanding support for a broad range of OEM technologies while maintaining an independent alternative to OEM service offerings.
The acquisition adds four facilities with distinct technical roles:
- Perris, California, will operate as a full-service repair and overhaul center for centrifugal compressors and steam turbines serving the western United States, with complete disassembly, machining, welding, balancing and field service capabilities. RMS’s field service reach from this site extends across the United States, Canada, Mexico and South America.
- Chicopee, Massachusetts, will serve as a dedicated steam turbine support center specializing in airfoils, packing and diaphragm manufacturing for multiple OEM designs. The facility combines extensive independently developed design archives with modern analytical tools and advanced component manufacturing.
- Worcester, England, will function as a European service hub focused on steam turbine blade repair, component reconditioning, rotor balancing and field and outage support for customers across the UK and continental Europe.
- Enschede, the Netherlands, will act as a center of excellence for centrifugal compressor aftermarket engineering, upgrades, repairs and field services for petrochemical and oil and gas customers across Europe, the Middle East and other regions.
RMS said the combined organization enhances its ability to serve customers in refining, petrochemical, steel and power generation markets. Expanded capabilities include steam turbine and compressor repair and overhaul, performance upgrades, advanced rotordynamic and aerodynamic analysis, component modernization for legacy equipment, precision machining and coordinated global field service.
“The addition of the TurboCare team significantly strengthens our depth across steam turbine and compressor technologies,” said Kraig Simpson, vice president of technology at RMS. “Customers gain access to broader expertise delivered with the agility of an independent provider.”
Through the acquisition, more than 160 engineers, machinists, welders, mechanics and field service professionals have joined RMS, bolstering its technical depth in legacy GE Fitchburg and other established product lines. RMS said the expanded workforce positions the company to accelerate innovation, enhance service delivery and support growth across global markets.
Founded in 1998, RMS provides engineering, repair and maintenance services for critical rotating equipment in oil and gas, power generation and petrochemical applications. With facilities across the United States and new operations in Europe, the company positions itself as an independent provider focused on responsiveness, precision and customer-focused innovation.
