MAN Max1 Finds New Application

Premium Content

April 18, 2017

SSAB, a Swedish producer of steel products, has placed an order with MAN Diesel and Turbo for a Max1 axial compressor for use in a blast furnace application.

Operating conditions at the steel plant in Luleå are extremely variable. Ambient temperatures range from -40°F to 86°F (-40°C to 30°C), and quick reaction times/availability are necessary to meet the demands of the production process.

Nineteen Max1 units are in use in air separation applications around the globe. Commissioning of the project is scheduled for the second quarter of 2018.
