INNIO Makes More Cuts At Waukesha Facility

INNIO Waukesha is “instituting a partial business closing” of its facility in Waukesha, Wisconsin, which produces Waukesha gas engines.

The move will eliminate 75 to 120 hourly positions from the facility’s current 153, the company told the state of Wisconsin in its layoff notice. The company will begin eliminating positions Dec. 31.

General Electric formerly served as the plant’s owner until Advent International, a private equity firm, bought out GE’s Distributed Power business late last year for US$3.25 billion and rebranded it as a stand-alone energy company known as INNIO. 

The transaction included the Jenbacher and Waukesha product lines, the digital platform and related services offerings, with main operating sites in Austria, Canada and the United States.

The company’s range of industrial gas engines incorporates 200 kW to 10 MW. Headquartered in Jenbach, Austria, the business also has primary operations in Welland, Ontario, Canada, and Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Founded in 1906, Waukesha’s distinctive orange-colored gas engines have been manufactured in Waukesha and more recently from Welland, Ontario, Canada.

The Waukesha products are primarily used in compression and transporting gas applications.
