Kevin Broom

GPA Midstream Association announced that it has named Kevin Broom its new vice president of communications.

Broom, a veteran communicator with more than two decades experience directing industry marketing communications, public relations, and public affairs campaigns, will help lead GPA Midstream’s “Let’s Clear the Air” initiative, which dispels energy myths and misperceptions and educates about the challenges and complexities of the energy transition.

GPA Midstream also announced that Crystal Myers, who joined the association in 2013 as communications director, will remain with the organization as vice president of events.

“Kevin brings a unique mix of B2B, B2C and advocacy communications that will help guide our Let’s Clear the Air campaign in the coming years,” said GPA Midstream President Joel Moxley. “His addition is the next step in a strategic realignment of staff resources to equip the association to continue serving our member companies in an evolving energy industry.”

Broom’s varied experience includes marketing communications, media, and public relations, as well as public affairs and crisis management for trade associations engaged in manufacturing, travel and leisure, and energy. He’s also represented clients in finance, venture capital, and technology.

“Clean, affordable and reliable energy is essential to the economic growth that sustains fulfilling and meaningful lives,” Broom said. “As the energy transition advances, it’s important that our discussion of the future reflects the realities of our complex energy system, and I’m excited to help shape that conversation.”

Myers will use nearly two decades in energy, including more than 10 years working with GPA Midstream, to design and deliver events and meetings where the sector can receive training, share best practices and network with customers and peers.

“Our events provide valuable opportunities for professionals to meet, share and stay on the cutting edge of topics impacting the energy industry,” Myers said. “Planning for the 2022 GPA Midstream Convention in San Antonio is well underway. At that meeting, we’ll bring together more than 1,500 individuals from all levels of operating and supplier companies — from entry-level engineers to technical experts to CEOs.”

The Let’s Clear the Air campaign, which launched earlier this year, is designed to communicate how midstream companies are supporting the energy transition by developing and deploying technologies that continuously increase efficiency, reduce waste, and cut greenhouse gas emissions. The initiative is an opportunity for dialogue with all interested parties about how society can realistically achieve an energy supply that’s abundant, clean, safe, reliable and affordable.
