Kerui Metodo Construção e Montagem S.A, led by China’s Shandong Kerui Petroleum and Brazil’s Metodo Potencial, has selected GE Power to provide an e-house for a natural gas processing unit in Itaboraí, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The unit, known as UPGN, is part of the Rota 3 natural gas project, which will process and transport natural gas feedstock from Petrobras’ Bacia de Santos pre-salt cluster to Itaboraí. The unit has the capacity to process up to 741 MMcfd (21 X 106 m3/d).

GE’s e-house, which covers 8611 sq.ft. (800 m2), is a modular outdoor enclosure that houses electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchboards, medium-voltage panels, variable speed drive systems and busducts. In the processing unit, the e-house solution will connect all of its electrical equipment to provide power and distribution to every item involved in the gas processing activity.

GE e-houses also provide automatic fire detection, air conditioning and pressurizing systems for contained equipment. Its protection rating is NEMA 4/4x and has a fire-retardant rating of F60/30. The e-house also features 100% continuous welded panels.
