EN Engineering has hired Bill Walsh, a researcher in advancing steel development for pipeline and energy applications, as chief metallurgist. Walsh rejoins the company after serving as program leader at ArcelorMittal Global R&D.

Walsh joined EN Engineering in 2006, leading the metallurgical group by providing client services for pipe and fitting specification and procurement, pipe mill quality audits, welding procedure development, component hydrotest and burst tests, failure analysis, finite element stress analysis, and fitness-for service assessments.

Walsh has worked in line pipe metallurgy, including research at Battelle on fatigue and fracture properties of line pipe steels; as a metallurgist working with Gene Smith at Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America; and as a developer of line pipe steels and characterizing properties at ArcelorMittal, an international steel manufacturer.
