Cooper, Altronic announce partnership to advance engine reliability and controls

Cooper Machinery Services has entered into a strategic partnership with Altronic, a global provider of ignition, control and instrumentation systems, in a move designed to expand technical capabilities and enhance support for the large installed base of natural gas engines and compressors operating across North America and internationally.

The companies said the collaboration will combine Cooper’s deep field experience and aftermarket service network with Altronic’s engineering expertise to develop next-generation solutions for engine performance, reliability and emissions management. Both organizations serve operators of long-lived compression and power generation assets—many of which continue to form the backbone of pipeline and midstream infrastructure.

Cooper CEO Scott Buckhout said the partnership reinforces the company’s engineering-led strategy and its focus on delivering dependable solutions across the engine ecosystem.

Altronic President and CTO David Lepley said the collaboration builds on decades of shared work between the companies.

Both companies serve a wide array of midstream, upstream and industrial operators that rely on legacy reciprocating engines and compressors—many of which require modernization to meet evolving operating, efficiency and emissions expectations. By pooling technical resources, Cooper and Altronic aim to accelerate development of controls, ignition systems and monitoring technologies capable of extending equipment life while improving operational performance.

The partnership also reflects growing demand across the compression market for integrated, data-driven upgrades that can be deployed without replacing existing assets. With operators prioritizing reliability and cost-effective optimization, Cooper and Altronic expect the collaboration to unlock new pathways for equipment refurbishment, digital diagnostics and emissions compliance.
