Cooper Acquires Sinor Engine

08 January 2020

Cooper Machinery Services has made another company purchase, this time acquiring Sinor Engine Co.

Sinor Engine specializes in distributing and servicing Superior engines and compressors, Joy compressors and Elliott turbochargers. The company, which debuted in 1962, also has a vast inventory of OEM parts.

The acquisition enhances Cooper’s service offerings for Superior engines and compressors among other equipment. It is Cooper’s third acquisition in a four-month span.

“Bringing them in-house made perfect sense. They are the experts with Superior,” said John Sargent, Cooper’s CEO. “We will learn from them.”
Sinor Engine’s business model will change slightly. The company will no longer serve as a distributor, but the rest of its functionality will remain intact, just under the Cooper banner, Sargent said.

“This is an industry play to better support the market,” he said. “We are adding the Sinor staff to our team. We’re not going to reduce the headcount.”
