Burckhardt Compression has plans to buy Dutch-based Mark van Schaick BV, a machine and service company that can make complex repairs on diesel engines and crankshafts. Terms of the deal, which is expected to close in the coming weeks, were not revealed.

In 2020, Mark van Schaick recorded sales of about CHF 9 million with 27 employees. The acquisition enables Burckhardt Compression to complement its its repair and service capabilities in Europe and further expands its presence in the service business for reciprocating compressors.

The acquisition also gives Burckhardt highly specialized machining expertise and repair capabilities for the global customer base in the maritime and petrochemical industry. “In line with our strategic ambitions, we strengthen our repair and machining capabilities with highly specialized know-how to serve our customers as full-service provider” said Marcel Pawlicek, CEO Burckhardt Compression.

Mark van Schaick established his namesake company in Rotteram in 2000. The company repairs crankshafts, connecting rods, engine blocks, bearings, pistons, piston rods, industrial “rotating equipment” such as turbine axles, pump axles, rotor axles of electric motors and whitemetal bearings. Its customers are shipowners and manufacturers of diesel engines and crankshafts.
