Blackstone names Christopher Wong as chief operating officer

Blackstone has appointed Christopher Wong as chief operating officer, a newly created executive role designed to centralize operational leadership and support the company’s continued expansion across North America and international markets.

Based in Houston, Wong will oversee operational accountability across Canada, the United States and global regions, moving the organization from a primarily regional execution structure to a more unified global operating model. The company said the shift is intended to establish consistent operating standards, scalable systems and stronger performance management as its service footprint grows.

Company President Alex Fulthorpe said the creation of the COO position reflects Blackstone’s changing scale and operational complexity.

“Creating the COO role is a natural step in Blackstone’s growth,” Fulthorpe said. “As we scale across regions and expand our service offering, it’s critical that we operate as one integrated organization. Chris brings a rare combination of technical depth, operational discipline, financial acumen, and business leadership, and he is uniquely positioned to help us build the systems and execution model required for the future.”

Wong joined Blackstone in 2020 and has more than 15 years of experience spanning operations, engineering, sales and executive leadership. The company said his background includes cross-functional roles supporting operational performance and business development, with a focus on energy-sector markets.

Blackstone said the new structure will help align execution practices across regions while improving coordination between technical, commercial and operational teams as demand grows for integrated services.
