Bently Nevada, a condition monitoring specialist that is a business unit of Baker Hughes, a GE Company (BHGE) has debuted its latest condition monitoring platform – the Orbit 60 Series – at the Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia in Houston, Texas.

The Orbit 60 Series is a system that collects and processes data, allowing operators to monitor the health of their machines. The system features a built-in data diode, which provides secure one-way data transfer to Bently Nevada’s machinery management software – System 1 – for monitoring and diagnostics.

The Orbit 60 Series also features scalable architecture, making it suitable for a range of applications, such as critical and basic machinery in the oil and gas, power generation and renewable industries. Additional features include 80 dynamic data channels (industry average is 50), high signal processing power and a compact physical footprint, Bently Nevada said. The system, which is SIL 2 and 3 certified and API 670 compliant, can be rack based or distributed and extended through a modular remote I/O system.

“Customers are looking for competitive machinery protection and monitoring solutions that not only will equip them with the right data and insights, but is flexible for future expansion,” said Terry Knight, president of Bently Nevada, BHGE. “Orbit 60 Series offers powerful analytics with enhanced flexibility and scalability, along with a built-in cybersecurity feature, reducing overall investment cost and giving operators full visibility of a plant.”

The new system is complementary to Bently Nevada’s existing plant-wide offerings, including the 3500 platform. The 3500 platform, which has 85,000 racks installed worldwide, will continue to be available as one of Bently Nevada’s condition monitoring options.
