Barr named GCA advisory board chair

The Gas Compressor Association has announced that James Barr is the organization’s incoming advisory board chairman. Barr is vice president of sales with J-W Power Company and has been active with the Gas Compressor Association for many years.

Barr attended Louisiana Tech University and majored in geosciences. He left with a few hours left to take a job with Core Lab in 1980 as a core analyst and laboratory supervisor before joining J-W in 1987 as an account manager.

He later moved to Longview Texas, where he was an area sales coordinator and then to Dallas, where he was amed vice president of sales.

Barr said he looks forward to working with the GCA over the two-year term. The organization helps member companies stay informed on a wide range of topics that affect the gas compression industry, including staying informed on evolving emissions regulations and OSHA rules.

The organization has an annual conference that draws speakers, educational programs and. It is also used to fund support for colleges that give industry training to emerging gas professionals and technicians. Barr is an avid golfer and hunter and has dedicated his career to the industry.
