Baker Hughes has secured three contracts to supply liquefaction equipment and gas turbine services for the first phase of the expansion of Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass LNG export terminal in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

The awards, booked during the second quarter, include orders from Cheniere and engineering contractor Bechtel Energy for the Train 7 expansion, a boil-off gas re-liquefaction unit and fleet-wide gas turbine upgrades at the existing facility.

For the Train 7 project, Baker Hughes will supply seven PGT25+ G4 aeroderivative gas turbines to drive 15 centrifugal compressors. The equipment will support approximately 6 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) of additional LNG production capacity.

In addition to the new liquefaction train, Baker Hughes will upgrade the installed fleet of PGT25+ G4 gas turbines operating across the Sabine Pass facility over a four-year period. According to the company, the upgrades are designed to increase turbine power output and improve production efficiency across the terminal’s existing LNG capacity of about 30 MTPA. Combined with Train 7 and the new boil-off gas re-liquefaction unit, the improvements are expected to add more than 6 MTPA of production capacity.

Lorenzo Simonelli, chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes, said the awards combine rotating equipment with long-term lifecycle services to support expanded LNG production and project execution.

Cheniere Chairman, President and CEO Jack Fusco said the equipment, services and technology upgrades build on the companies’ long-standing relationship and will support continued optimization and efficiency improvements across the Sabine Pass platform.
